THE CCAR RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY©
Developed by the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) and facilitated by CCAR trainers at RE/COACH, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy(c) is a 5-day (4-day with Fast-Track™) training opportunity designed for those interested in serving as a recovery coach. As the most recognized and respected training program for peer-based recovery coaching, the Academy is designed for people interested in guiding individuals into and through long-term recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction. The Academy prepares graduates to serve as a valued resource to their local communities, becoming stronger advocates for recovery and better able to meet people where they are. Some use the training to pursue professional coaching, while others offer their services to organizations on a volunteer basis. There are no prerequisites for attending this class and ALL are welcome!

WHAT IS THE CCAR RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY?
A CCAR Recovery Coach is anyone interested in promoting recovery by removing barriers & obstacles to recovery and serving as a personal guide & mentor for people seeking or already in recovery. It is invaluable for anyone – counselors, teachers, health care professionals, volunteers, group leaders, community activists, parents, spouses and other family members – working or living with addiction sufferers.
CCAR RCA is a practical, results-oriented training that will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the purpose and tasks of a recovery coach and will explain the various roles played by a recovery coach. The program will provide participants with the tools & resources most useful in providing recovery support services. It will also teach skills to access vital recovery resources within the community.
Because it is founded on a philosophy of “meeting people where they are”, this program teaches how to support the recovery of anyone challenged by addiction. Participants will be able to:

Since it's inception in 2008, the more than 30,000 people across the world to have completed the Recovery Coach Academy have made this the most highly regarded training program of it's kind. Most recently, the work of CCAR and CCAR RCA graduates was included to author and support the passage of The COACH Act as part of The Federal Opioid Crisis Response Act, which provides hospitals with funding to support & staff emergency departments with trained recovery coaches.

- Build skills to enhance relationships
- Explore the many dimensions of recovery and recovery coaching.
- Discover attitudes about self disclosure and sharing your story.
- Understand the stages of recovery.
- Describe the stages of change and their applications.
- Increase their awareness of culture, power & privilege.
- Address ethical and boundary issues.
- Experience recovery wellness planning.
- Discuss co-occurring disorders and medicated assisted recovery
- Practice newly acquired skills
